Spring is approaching which means it's time to gather your cleaning supplies to get ready for spring cleaning. During this time you'll be cleaning areas in your home that you have overlooked in your day to day cleaning routine. Here are a few easily forgotten chores to add to your list this year.

Fridge

Take time this year to remove all the contents of your fridge and give your shelves a good scrub. Wipe the walls and shelving of your fridge to ensure your food is going back into a bacteria-free environment. Once you've cleaning the inside, take some time to move the refrigerator out of its designated spot and clean behind the refrigerator. Food and other items can easily get trapped behind the fridge and be quickly forgotten.

Drawers and Cabinets

Placing clean dishes in a dusty cabinet doesn't serve much of a purpose. Set aside some time to remove your dishes and kitchen tools from your cabinets and clean any dust that remains. While all of your items are out in the open, think about reorganizing your kitchen to operate more efficiently. For example, move the dishware next to the stove to make serving food more accessible. Also, organize drawers by using plastic containers to ensure nothing gets lost or misplaced.

Baseboards

Dusting is something we all should be doing on a regular basis, but we may dread it. You can make the dusting process a bit easier if you do it on a regular basis. Then, follow a few simple tips to make the entire cleaning process seamless form start to finish.  


To Dust Or Vacuum?


Which came first, the dusting or the vacuuming? It only makes sense to start dusting first, as some dust will fall to the floor as youíre going over everything in your home. You should vacuum up the floor after you have dusted so you donít need to do double the work. 


Start At The Doorway


No matter what room you start with, the best strategy is for you to start at the doorway of the room and work your way inward. Youíll also want to start high in the room and work your way down. If you have ceiling fans, high beams in the room, or hanging lights, youíll want to dust those first. Then, dust the tops of items like bookshelves, refrigerators, and other high items in the rooms. Next, youíll dust countertops, end tables, television stands, and other similar height items. Finally, youíll dust the baseboards and items closer to the floor. This formula for dusting is for more of a deep clean. You can do less steps on a regular basis in order to surface clean your home without the need for hours of dusting. 


Your Furniture Will Stay In Better Condition 


The more often that you dust and care for your furniture, the better off your furniture will be. Cleaning the furniture often will prevent scratches and blemishes, keeping these pieces from showing visible signs of aging, wear and tear. Deep cleans of your home will really bring back its shine.

These objects that you choose to keep donít have to be extravagant, they can be simple objects. If you love your wooden spoon and itís in useful condition, you should definitely keep it! Art and certain precious mementos are what we often think of when we bring to mind things that we love, but anything that reminds us of positive emotions can be a keepsake. Obviously, beat up, useless objects shouldnít be considered. That would defeat the purpose of this exercise! Deep Clean Giving your home a deep clean after the purging process is the next logical step. You may even consider hiring professionals for this step. For most of us cleaning is no fun. There are some hidden secrets that can make cleaning just a little bit easier. Here are some little known cleaning tips: -Remove grease and dirt build up from kitchen cabinets. Say to clean cabinets, 1st heat slightly damp sponge or cloth in microwave for 20 - 30 seconds until it's hot. Put on a pair of rubber gloves, spray cabinets with an all-purpose cleaner containing orange oil, then wipe off cleaner with a hot sponge. -Soak old paintbrushes in hot vinegar for 30 minutes and good as new. -Clean that oily, sticky residue off of appliances with a little Cream of Tarter mixed with a few drops of water, add some scrubbing! -Get a clean microwave by filling a microwaveable bowl with 1-2 cups of water and add a dash of vinegar (about a tablespoon or two). Put the bowl in the microwave, shut the door, and turn it on for 5 minutes. -Chalk will remove grease stains from clothes. Simply rub the stain with chalk, then toss in the wash as normal.
